Programs

The CSA Day Camp is a unique approach to soccer training. Our curriculum offers a wide variety of challenging, creative, fun-filled soccer instruction for the players of all levels. The Academy is geared for the beginning, intermediate, advanced and high school level of play. The Charger Soccer Academy has put together a diverse program to meet the growing needs for the soccer player. Campers will be grouped by their age and playing ability.

JUNIOR CAMP:  5-7 yr. old boys and girls.  9:00-11:30am.  Designed to teach basic soccer and provide a foundation for future learning.  The curriculum will include fundamental soccer instruction with fun filled activities and games.

ADVANCED CAMP:  8-13 yr. old boys and girls. 9:00am-3:30pm. Designed to instruct players in individual skills, tactics, and fundamentals of team play.  The campers' skills will be put to use in a variety of small-sided games.  There will be 3v3 and 6v6 tournaments daily.

GOALKEEPERS CAMP:  8-13 yr. old boys and girls. Designed to provide intense training on goalkeeping techniques, diving, handling, and distribution.  Tactical aspects and positional play will be a focus for Goalkeepers.

What to Bring

Each camper should bring shin guards, soccer shoes, tennis shoes, an extra t-shirt, a towel, snack, and sports drink.

It is encouraged that each camper come prepared in the event of inclement weather.

Directors

JOHN CARRIER is entering his second year as the Men's head soccer coach at the University of Alabama Huntsville. A first year head coach, Carrier guided the Chargers to a 10-6-2 record, achieving 3rd in the Gulf South conference, eventually losing on PK's in the conference tournament semi-final. Under Carriers leadership, UAH chalked up two all-south region players, and four all-GSC selections, as well as many multiple player of the week honors. Prior to UAH, Carrier coached at Bryan College and Huntingdon College.

JIMMY MITCHELL is entering his eighth year as the women’s head coach at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.  Prior to UAH he served  13 years as Head Coach at Div. I Northwestern State University in Louisiana.  Jimmy guided his team to three Southland Conference Tournament championships along with three NCAA National tournament appearances. Before NSU Jimmy  coached at Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina.  While at Belmont, Jimmy advanced to the ‘Elite Eight’ of the NCAA Div. II Tournament and produced numerous All-Americans.  Mitchell has been involved in Olympic Development Soccer at the State and regional levels for 21 years

JOHN HORNE is entering his third year alongside head coach, John Carrier at the University of Alabama in Huntsville as the Men's Assistant soccer coach. Horne spent his collegiate career playing at Hastings College, NE, where in his senior year his team won the NAIA National Championship. Horne has coached locally within the club environment alongside the Olympic Development Program in charge of the Alabama 06' Boys.

JAMES BALLAMY is entering his third year with Coach Mitchell at the University of Alabama in Huntsville as the Women's Assistant soccer coach. Prior to joining the UAH Women's soccer coaching staff, Ballamy spent a year as an assistant coach for the UAH Men's soccer team. As a player, Ballamy spent a season at Emory & Henry College in Virginia before moving to the UAH Chargers where he played three seasons for the Blue and White. Ballamy holds an English FA Level 2 coaching badge and is a USSF "E" licensed coach.
